Mira’s first ladies’ watch collection tells a love story.

Once upon a time, a swan was floating above a mother-of-pearl and black aventurine lake, waiting for its companion. The incarnation of fidelity, the bird invests this elegant and timeless piece with deep significance.

Mira Celeste Collection

As it is dedicated to women, it sparkles with a setting of no fewer than 166 diamonds.

Combined with pink gold and mother-of-pearl, these accentuate the beauty and purity of the Fée Céleste’s plumage, which seems to skim over the passing time, symbolised here by the off-centre hours at 12 o’clock and the retrograde minutes at 6 o’clock.

A delicate combination of imagery and imagination on the path to dreams.

Hublot Store St.Maartens

The Grand Opening of the Hublot Boutique in St. Maarten was held on the evening of December 9, 2010 with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

This inauguration marks the 29th Hublot exclusive boutique worldwide. Located in Phillipsburg on the beautiful Harbour of St. Maarten, this Hublot Flagship store expresses perfectly the brand’s “Art of Fusion” philosophy, with an ingenious combination of steel, carbon fiber, aluminum and singular alloys with wood, leather, rubber and glass. The design as a whole features a contemporary look and atmosphere for a unique retail experience.

Founded in 1976 on the Dutch side of St. Maarten, Little Europe is still a family owned business, which has developed a solid partnership with the Hublot Brand. Charles Taylor, Director of Hublot in the Caribbean mirrored the Hublot philosophy of the opening: “We cannot build the strategy for an enterprise without the durability and equanimity of our long-standing partners. I send our special thanks, in particular to the Directors of Little Europe, as well as to the Hublot team in Miami and Geneva involved for their commitment, and for this magnificent boutique dedicated to Hublot”
Mr. Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of Hublot: “Each new opening reflects the great vitality and impressive expansion of HUBLOT, with every month seeing the inauguration of new exclusive locations in the most prestigious settings around the world. With the forthcoming and recent exclusive openings in Aruba, Beverly Hills, Bal Harbour, Boca Raton, and New York, HUBLOT has never been as strong and as dynamic as today. This tremendous success is the result of creativity and innovation, and a long-term loyal relationship with our partners such as Little Europe, which I would like to congratulate and thank for their efforts towards the opening of this Flagship Store and for their long time involvement with Hublot.

Buzz Aldrin signing Omega watches

Buzz Aldrin wore an Omega watch on the Moon

Omega symbolises accomplishment and perfection – qualities that have been inherent in every Omega watch since the company’s foundation in 1848.

Omega has always been driven by its pioneering spirit: six lunar landings; the first divers’ watch; the world’s only certified marine chronometer wristwatch.

No watch company in the world holds more records for accuracy.

On Tuesday 5th October 2010, OMEGA held an exclusive evening with astronaut and brand Ambassador Dr. Buzz Aldrin for a select group of VIP customers and celebrity guests at the OMEGA Boutique in Castlereagh Street in the heart of Sydney.

Dr. Aldrin has enjoyed a long association with OMEGA: when he stepped on to the lunar surface on the 20th of July 1969, the OMEGA Speedmaster chronograph strapped around his spacesuit became the first watch to be worn on the Moon.  Neil Armstrong had left his own Speedmaster aboard the Lunar Module to serve as a reliable backup to the craft’s electronic timing system.

At the exclusive event VIP customers and celebrity guests were treated to a Q&A session with Dr. Aldrin and well known journalist and TV personality Sarah Wilson.  Dr. Aldrin spoke of his memories of the 1969 mission which made him and Armstrong such an important part of the history of exploration.

Dr. Aldrin also spoke fondly about his partnership with OMEGA which has lasted over 40 years when he wore the OMEGA Speedmaster watch on the moon.  Since then he has worn a large collection of OMEGA watches including the OMEGA Seamaster Diver that he wears on his deep diving trips, which is a favourite past time of his.

swatch watches

After nearly 200 million units Swatch is the most successful wristwatch of all time.
The Swatch Group is the largest and most dynamic watch company in the world.

In the mid-seventies, the Swiss watch industry was in the midst of its worst crisis ever.

Technologically speaking, the Japanese competition had been outclassed in 1979 with the launch of the “Delirium,” the world´s thinnest wristwatch with a limited number of components.

But the event that marked the upturn in the industry´s fortunes was the founding of SMH, the Swiss Corporation for Microelectronics and Watchmaking Industries. And its answer to the crisis was Swatch-a slim plastic watch with only 51 components (instead of the usual 91 parts or more) that combined top quality with a highly affordable price.

It first went on sale in 1983. Since this time, it has gone on to become the most successful wristwatch of all time, and The Swatch Group, the parent company, is the largest and most dynamic watch company in the world.

Patek Philippe Annual Calendar

Patek Philippe Annual Calendar

On May 1st, 1839 two Polish immigrants, Antoni Patek (Businessman) and Franciszek Czapek (Watchmaker) joined forces to found “Patek, Czapek & Cie” in Geneva.

In 1844, Mr. Patek met the French watchmaker, Mr. Adrien Philippe in Paris where the latter presented his pioneering  stem winding and setting system by the crown.

In 1845 when Czapek decided to leave the company and to continue his activity on his own, the company name changed to “Patek & Cie”.

Later on, in 1851 when Mr. Philippe officially associated with the company, it  was rebaptised “Patek Philippe & Cie” before changing once more in 1901 for “Ancienne Manufacture d’Horlogerie Patek Philippe & Cie, S.A.”.

In 1932, the company was purchased by Charles and Jean Stern, two brothers owners of a fine dial manufacture in Geneva. Since then, « Patek Philippe S.A. » remains a family owned firm. In 2009 the company presidency was officially transmitted from the 3rd to the 4th generation : Mr. Thierry Stern became president and his father Mr. Philippe Stern, Honorary president.

2010 the year of chronographs for Patek Philippe

With its new in-house chronograph caliber CH 29-535 PS, a long awaited manually wound movement that was introduced last November, Patek Philippe has now three different proprietary calibers which strengthens its technical prowess and watchmaking expertise.

The Ref. 5396 Annual Calendar launched in 2006 has characteristic double in-line aperture displays that reflect the style of the 1940s and 1950s. It is now also available in white gold.

Hublot Watches

Hublot Watches - fusing metal and art

Hublot made its name 30 years ago when it became the first Swiss watch luxury brand to fuse precious metals with functional rubber, sparking a revolution for material innovation and aesthetics.

In 2004, Mr. Jean-Claude Biver – one of the few men who have genuinely left their mark on Swiss watchmaking – gave Hublot a great new boost and revolutionized watchmaking with the creation of the “Big Bang,” the multiple award-winning chronograph with a contemporary and elegant design, which marked the start of the spectacular success of the brand.

Today, with the new high-tech Hublot watch manufacture, building on the impressive growth of the brand, he continues to write the story of the Art of Fusion with the combination of materials like ceramic, zirconium, carbon, tantalum, tungsten, titanium, rubber… with conventional materials such as gold, platinum, steel, diamonds and precious stones, while remaining true to the Swiss tradition enriched with the visionary creativity of the 21st Century.

Now frequently seen on the wrists of Sylvester Stallone, Celine Dion or Michael Douglas, the Hublot watch has become a true international fashion statement.

CHOPARD Classic Racing Superfast Chrono

CHOPARD Classic Racing Superfast Chrono

For over two decades, Chopard has demonstrated an unfailing attachment to the world of classic cars in general, and to racing cars in particular.

This passion is echoed in a range of classic yet sporty watch collections intended for elegant and sophisticated men with an extremely active lifestyle. Over the years, the Mille Miglia, Jacky Ickx and Grand Prix de Monaco Historique watches have become the brand’s best-sellers.

Chopard Chronograph

Chopard Chronograph

These timepieces are grouped within the Classic Racing collection representing the culmination of all the technical and aesthetic innovations inspired by the field of automobiles. A star model in this new collection, the Classic Racing Superfast Chrono is an ultra-powerful chronograph with an imposing 45 mm-diameter case.

In 1988, Chopard became official timekeeper for the “Corsa più bella del mondo”, the Mille Miglia. Over the 1000-mile (1600 km) distance running from Brescia to Rome and back, enthusiasts from around the world compete with one other at the wheel of collector’s cars. In 1996, Chopard took part as official sponsor in the Mil Millas Sport, a classic car rally that takes place each year in Argentina. In 2002, brand co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, discovered the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique through his friend and former Formula 1 racing driver Jacky Ickx, and immediately Chopard became official timekeeper for this event. From time to time, Chopard also supports the famous Rallye des Pharaons, the British Classic Cars meeting in St Moritz, the Old Timer Rally in Gstaad, or this year’s Schloss Dyck Classic Days.

Over the last 20 years, Chopard has firmly established its credibility in the field of classic car racing. The full measure of sporting elegance and technical performances acquired throughout these two decades are now reflected in the Classic Racing Superfast Chrono in steel. Its “motor”, a mechanical self-winding chronograph movement with a 42-hour power reserve and COSC chronometer certification, drives the hour and minute functions, along with small seconds at 3 o’clock and an instant-jump date display through a window at 6 o’clock. The hour-markers are reminiscent of the markings on classic car dashboard instruments, such as rev counters and speedometers. The chronograph function is operated by two pushbuttons at 2 and 4 o’clock controlling the central second hand, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock and a 30-minute counter at 9 o’clock. Finally, a tachometric scale engraved on the screw-down bezel further contributes to making this model the indispensable instrument for all those with a love of high speed and finely tuned mechanisms.

In terms of its bodywork, the imposing 47.80 mm steel case is fitted with the famous rubber strap featuring the 1960s Dunlop Racing tyre-read motif. The rectangular integrated pushers are in black rubber-moulded stainless steel, as is the screw-lock crown reminiscent of a tyre and adorned with a metal appliqué bearing the Classic Racing collection steering-wheel emblem.
The lines engraved in the steel sides of the case evoke the cooling fans found on the engine block of classic cars, and this motif is echoed on the dial.
