Born in Belgium in 1959, Ann Demeulemmeester studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Belgium between 1978 and 1980.
She hired a truck with five of her fellow-students – the now legendary ‘Antwerp Six’ – and presented her first collection at London Fashion week in 1987.
Between 1987 and 1988 she created her first Autumn / Winter fashion collections for women.
It was in 1992 that Ann Demeulemeester held her first fashion show in Paris .
By 1996 Ann Demeulemeester had also moved into creating mens fashions and that year saw these designs exhibited with her womens fashions at Paris Fashion Week. A successful saw Ann Demeulemees win the “Culture Award ’96” by the Belgian Government.
